[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] Hunid Technologies (hereinafter Hunid), a domestic defense company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (hereinafter GA-ASI) to strengthen global cooperation in the unmanned aerial vehicle sector.

According to Hunid on the 22nd, the signing of the MOU between the two companies took place at the ‘Defense Small and Medium Enterprises Export Promotion Day (hereinafter DPD)’ held at the Korea Defense Industry Exhibition (DX-KOREA) the previous day.

By signing a business agreement with GA-ASI, a world-leading company in the military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector, Hunid plans to expand the supply of aviation parts applied to domestic and international unmanned vehicle platforms.

Previously, Hunid joined GA-ASI’s global supply chain in February and has been supplying aviation parts. It is expected to supply additional parts through this agreement.

Ken Loving, Vice President, stated, "Hunid is a partner with excellent production capabilities and processes capable of supplying aviation parts in a short period," adding, "We plan to promote business to expand aviation parts."

Meanwhile, at the event, the Agency for Defense Development awarded commendations to GA-ASI and Thales for their active cooperation in expanding global parts supply chain collaboration and promoting export market development activities.

GA-ASI is the manufacturer of the military unmanned aerial vehicle ‘Reaper,’ mainly used by the U.S. military for intelligence gathering and attack assets. Since 2007, it has supplied over 300 ‘Reaper’ units to the U.S. Air Force and currently supplies various upgraded military UAVs tailored to the individual requirements of about 17 countries, including the U.S. military, France, and Japan.
