[Seoul District News] Moon Heon-il, Guro-gu Mayor, Completes Visits to Neighborhoods from August 29 to September 21... Park Il-ha, Dongjak-gu Mayor, Discusses Improvement Plans at Heukseok-dong Rider Cafe On-site Meeting on the 20th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro District, concluded his visits to neighborhoods on the 21st with Hang-dong, completing about three weeks of visits that started on the 29th of last month and ended on the 21st of this month.
This series of neighborhood visits was conducted in the form of informal meetings with residents, omitting traditional formalities and ceremonies. It was reported that this approach, where Mayor Moon listened to residents' inconveniences and difficulties and responded on the spot, received great positive feedback from the residents.
During the visits to 16 neighborhoods, Mayor Moon met with approximately 250 residents and received over 120 suggestions. These included requests for ▲establishment of small libraries ▲installation of alley streetlights ▲flood damage prevention measures ▲urban redevelopment, among various other fields. The district plans to review the received suggestions by department and actively seek solutions based on the contents gathered during these neighborhood visits.
Additionally, during the neighborhood visits, as the typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ was forecasted to approach, Mayor Moon urgently changed the scheduled plans and personally conducted on-site inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities, drawing attention.
Mayor Moon stated, “Through these neighborhood visits, we were able to identify various issues and inconveniences in the community that we were previously unaware of,” and added, “We will listen more closely to the voices of residents and the field to provide practical help to the lives of district citizens.”
He also added, “We will carefully review the valuable opinions proposed by the residents and strive to reflect them in district administration.”
Meanwhile, Guro District plans to continue collecting residents’ opinions on district administration through various methods such as policy idea contests and listening to suggestions, maintaining communication with residents.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, held an on-site meeting at Heukseok-dong Community Center at 4 p.m. on the 20th to listen to voices from related organizations and local residents regarding the Rider Cafe and discuss improvement measures.
The district had promptly addressed complaints related to smoking and traffic safety requested by resident representatives and the parent committee, and additionally arranged this meeting to exchange mutual opinions between residents and business owners to explore further improvement measures.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Park, local council members, related organizations, local residents, and business owners, focusing on discussing on-site complaints and improvement plans.
At the meeting, Mayor Park announced plans to promote measures discussed, including ▲designation of smoking areas in parking lots ▲re-designation of motor vehicle-only roads ▲prohibition of two-wheeled vehicles on sidewalks ▲joint crackdowns ▲and enactment of ordinances for additional administrative actions.
To crack down on motorcycles riding on sidewalks, CCTV will be installed on both sides of the sidewalks, and additional on-site inspections will be conducted.
Noise control enforcement will be additionally carried out on the 30th, and in the future, an efficient joint enforcement system will be implemented in cooperation with the National Police Agency and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. Furthermore, additional ordinances for necessary administrative actions such as crackdowns will be enacted.
Mayor Park Il-ha said, “Through this meeting, we were able to exchange mutual opinions between local residents and business owners and discuss additional measures,” and added, “We will closely monitor to ensure that these measures are implemented.”
