Haenam-gun Confirms 115 Pledges for the 8th Elected Term

[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 21st, Jeonnam Haenam-gun announced that it has finalized the citizen pledges to realize the local government goal of the 8th term of the elected government, "Vigorous Leap! The Best Haenam Where Life is Worth Living."

The pledges of Haenam-gun for the 8th term of the elected government consist of 17 tasks in Communication and Empathy Ethical Management, 31 tasks in Sustainable Future Agriculture, 22 tasks in Southwest Coast Tourism Center, 28 tasks in Symbiotic Vitality Balanced Development, and 17 tasks in People-Centered Sharing Welfare, totaling 115 tasks across five major areas.

The total project cost is expected to be 6.0668 trillion KRW, with plans to invest 4.1096 trillion KRW during the 8th term until 2026.

Key tasks in the major areas include spreading Haenam-type ESG ethical management, establishing the Haenam-gun Education Foundation, activating the Hometown Love Donation System, and promoting love-centered social economy for Communication and Empathy Ethical Management.

For Sustainable Future Agriculture, projects include establishing an agricultural research complex to respond to climate change, building dormitories for agricultural workers, expanding distribution infrastructure such as agricultural product exports, promoting convergence industries like kimchi and sweet potatoes, revitalizing the fisheries aquaculture industry, and creating a sustainable agricultural and fishery environment to strengthen high value-added competitiveness.

In the cultural tourism sector, aiming to be the Southwest Coast Tourism Center, 22 projects will be promoted including the development of Mokpo-gu Lighthouse as a tourist attraction, creation of Haenam Complex Museum Park, and restoration and maintenance of the Mahan Historical and Cultural Zone.

For regional economic vitality and community activation, projects such as operating the Haenam-type Rural Study Abroad Center, creating a smart green city, and establishing a hinterland for the Hwawon Industrial Complex offshore wind power project have been selected as symbiotic cooperation balanced development tasks.

Lastly, for people-centered sharing welfare, 11 projects will be promoted including creating a women-friendly city, building youth public rental housing, and operating cultural workshops utilizing senior citizen centers.

With the launch of the 8th term of the elected government, the county held two briefing sessions to finalize the pledge projects by reviewing the purpose, feasibility, funding, and legal grounds of the pledges, analyzing issues, and focusing on current projects that can provide maximum benefits to citizens.

The finalized pledge projects will be disclosed to citizens through the Haenam-gun website in September, and starting next month, a citizen evaluation group for pledge implementation plan inspection will be promoted to actively reflect citizens' opinions.

Additionally, under the goal of a vigorous leap for 515 villages where life is worth living, the projects will be promoted swiftly through quarterly inspection meetings to ensure the effects of the pledge projects are felt.
