[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, which is promoting the 'Street Food Zone' as a key project, has received suggestions that it needs to expand the insufficient convenience facilities to enhance competitiveness.
On the 20th, Park Yong-hwa, a member of Nam-gu Council, proposed during a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 1st regular meeting of the 288th session that convenience facilities such as ▲comprehensive information boards ▲roof covers ▲trash cans should be installed within the Street Food Zone.
The Street Food Zone was created along a section of about 310 meters from in front of Moa Mountain Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic opposite the district office to opposite Namgwangju Nonghyup.
Stores offering a variety of foods such as Asian cuisine, Western dishes including steak, Chinese food, and bakery opened last month, and visitors can also enjoy busking and exhibitions by local artists.
Councilman Park said, "As time passes, many outsiders visit in large numbers as a tourist course, and there are many opinions that it is difficult to grasp all the facilities in the food zone," emphasizing, "I propose to produce and install an LED electronic display board at the entrance showing the business name, food items, representative, and contact information."
He added, "If the information board is installed, visitors will find it useful as they can directly find the booths with their preferred food items."
Furthermore, he pointed out, "Currently, there is a space on the upper floor of the booths where people can purchase and eat food, but the problem is that there is no roof cover to shelter from rain or snow."
Ultimately, he expressed concern, "This will result in the food zone visits being affected by the weather, and on bad weather days, it may lead to a decrease in visitors."
He also said, "There is no place to dispose of trash while eating and passing by, and customers cannot be expected to carry their trash home. Space for trash disposal should be secured with an eco-friendly appearance."
Councilman Park added, "A traffic hell-like situation resembling a traffic war is often created due to vehicles parked on both sides of the road in front of the booths," urging, "Whether through parking enforcement or one-way traffic, a permanent traffic countermeasure should be established."
He concluded, "I hope that the proposed contents will be reflected promptly so that the Street Food Zone can be reborn as a place visitors want to return to, improving customer satisfaction."
