Geochang-gun Holds 2022 Tourism Souvenir Contest ... Actively Utilizing for Tourism and Promotion

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is holding the ‘2022 Geochang-gun Tourism Souvenir Contest’ to discover and foster unique and practical tourism souvenirs that express the region’s history, cultural characteristics, and symbolism.

The contest is open to all businesses with an address in Geochang-gun, and each business can submit up to five entries. To apply, participants must visit the Cultural Tourism Division of the county office during the submission period (September 21?30) and submit their entries along with the related documents.

The total prize money is 8.5 million KRW, with awards planned as follows: one Grand Prize (3 million KRW), two Silver Prizes (1.5 million KRW each), three Bronze Prizes (500,000 KRW each), five Honorable Mentions (100,000 KRW each), and ten Participation Awards (50,000 KRW each).

Submitted works will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges based on the suitability as tourism souvenirs, excellence and creativity of design, and ease of distribution. The winners will be announced at the end of October.

The county plans to actively utilize the selected works by providing opportunities to exhibit and sell them at tourism fairs or producing them as promotional souvenirs for Geochang tourism.

Jo Ho-gyeong, head of the Cultural Tourism Division, said, “We ask for active participation in the 2022 Geochang-gun Tourism Souvenir Contest. Through this contest, we aim to discover tourism souvenirs that can represent Geochang and actively use them to promote Geochang tourism.”
