[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 20th that it successfully held the ‘2022 Dong-gu Youth FUN DAY’ event commemorating Youth Day at the Dong-gu Humanities Hall on the 17th.
Held in collaboration with the Dong-gu Youth Participation Committee, this event was prepared to support young people by providing a communication space where they could fully enjoy themselves, under the theme ‘Youth Changing the World, Together in Dong-gu,’ in celebration of Youth Day, a legally designated commemorative day (the third Saturday of September every year).
The day’s program began with various side events such as enjoying afternoon tea, making perfumes, and band performances, followed by the first part, a commemorative ceremony, and the second part, a talk concert.
The first part featured an award ceremony for youth merit recipients and a performance expressing the meaning of different individualistic youths coming together and converging, using eight colored fabrics.
In the second part, Mayor Im Taek and the youths engaged in an open and honest Q&A talk concert. The youths shared sincere conversations covering current issues they face such as employment, housing, marriage, and childbirth, as well as personal questions they were curious about for Mayor Im.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “I feel proud to see the youths fully enjoying themselves here today, a place prepared solely for them,” and added, “We will actively reflect the difficulties and opinions heard directly through the voices of the youth in future district administration to create a Dong-gu where young people can freely soar.”
