Hwasun-gun to Host Dolmen Culture Festival from 23rd to 25th

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] The Jeonnam Hwasun Dolmen Cultural Festival will be held from the 23rd to the 25th at the Dolmen Historic Site in Hyosan-ri, Dogok-myeon, Hwasun-gun.

The county announced on the 19th that starting with the opening ceremony at the World Megalith Theme Park in Hyosan-ri, Dogok-myeon on the 23rd, the Dolmen Festival and Residents' Day event will be held on the 24th, followed by a Senior Citizens' Comfort Banquet on the 25th.

Now in its 7th year, the Dolmen Festival plans to conduct 42 unit events across 8 categories under the theme "Eternal Life, Into the Dolmen."

According to Dogok-myeon, the festival is composed of various programs including exhibitions, experiences, sales, and competitions, preparing a festival where tourists, children, youth, and local residents all come together.

Programs that attract attention include the prehistoric dolmen life experience yard's Sotdae erection, dolmen pulling which requires cooperation between tourists and locals, and the new wagon ride on a large tractor along the old dolmen road.

In addition, various events such as talent shows, youth and club competitions, and village sports games are prepared to promote harmony among local residents.

Moon Hyung-yoon, chairman of the Hwasun Dolmen Festival Promotion Committee, said, "Starting next year, the Dolmen Cultural Festival will be reborn as a four-season flower festival hosted by the county," adding, "Since this is the last year the festival is held as a local event, we hope to prepare diligently and provide many visitors to Dogok-myeon with joyful and happy memories."

Meanwhile, the Hwasun Dolmen Historic Site spans 3 km across Hyosan-ri, Dogok-myeon and Daesan-ri, Chunyang-myeon, with 596 dolmens distributed, and is the only dolmen site in Korea equipped with a quarry.

Since 2000, it has been recognized for its value by being registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
