[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, visited the site of the fire at Hwanghak-dong Electric Market on the morning of the 19th to inspect the damage and console the residents.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu said, “We will actively support the restoration of the damage as soon as possible,” and added, “In order to prevent fires in autumn and winter, we will not only conduct regular inspections but also actively promote fire prevention safety rules.”
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) launched an Agricultural Land Committee on the 19th to prevent farmland speculation and manage farmland efficiently.
On the same day, the district held an ‘Agricultural Land Committee Appointment Ceremony’ in the district office’s main conference room and formed the committee by recommending local farmers, local agricultural organizations, non-profit private organizations, and farmland experts.
The 10 appointed committee members will review cases over the next two years such as ▲ acquisition of farmland within land transaction permission zones ▲ first acquisition of farmland in Gangseo-gu by non-residents ▲ cases where farmland is acquired jointly by three or more people for one parcel.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “With the amendment of the Farmland Act, we have formed this committee to prevent speculative acquisition of farmland by non-farmers,” and requested, “Please work hard to eradicate farmland speculation through objective and fair review in the future.”
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-su) opened ‘Masil Cinema,’ a free movie theater for senior citizens, on the 19th. This is the reopening after about three years since it was suspended due to the spread of COVID-19.
The movie screened this time was ‘Extreme Job,’ which surpassed 10 million viewers, and to enliven the movie viewing experience, a performance by a troupe composed of local cultural groups and artists was also held.
Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, who visited the event, said, “I am pleased that Masil Cinema, which started in 2011, has reopened after three years and we can welcome you again,” and added, “I hope this will be a time to enjoy and laugh after a long time, and we will continue to strive to provide various cultural events to residents including senior citizens.”
