'Meta Hongdae Music Tour' from 19th to 25th

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Telecom announced that it will hold a hyper-realistic virtual concert "Meta Hongdae Music Tour" using volumetric technology on the metaverse (extended virtual world) platform 'ifland' from the 19th to the 25th. Volumetric technology is a technique that creates real-life based three-dimensional images by simultaneously capturing 360-degree surroundings with over 100 cameras.

Artists participating include 10CM, Sunwoo Jung-a, Car, the Garden, pH-1, and YB. From the 19th to the 23rd, one team will be revealed sequentially each day, and from the 25th, performances by the previously revealed artists will be presented simultaneously over two days. Artist interview sessions will be held from 7 PM at the ifland 'Meta Hongdae' land. Meta Hongdae land is a newly introduced gathering space in ifland from the 19th, replicating the representative busking spot Hongdae street and the live club Rolling Hall.

SKT plans to showcase performances by indie bands and musicians in the metaverse space through Meta Hongdae land, which newly reconstructs the live club 'Rolling Hall' that has represented Hongdae's indie performance culture for 27 years. The Meta Hongdae Music Tour and Meta Hongdae land are outcomes of the 'Metaverse Culture Project' promoted based on a business agreement SKT signed with the Korea Creative Content Agency in May last year. In addition to Rolling Hall, the project was completed in collaboration with XR live content producer 'Live K'.

In the first half of this year, SKT also introduced the 'Lost Face 1895' land and 'One Million' land, cooperating with leading domestic small and medium content production companies to expand various IPs (intellectual properties) such as musicals and dance into metaverse services.

Various events will also be held. By watching the volumetric performance and taking a certification photo, participants can enter a draw to win prizes such as AirPods, department store gift certificates, convenience store gift certificates, and Starbucks gift certificates. A guerrilla flash mob event will be held from 6:30 PM at Meta Hongdae land, giving 30,000 ifland points to all participants. Additionally, various events such as artist avatar follow events and avatar indie live performances will take place.
