[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Boditech Med announced on the 19th that it held a completion ceremony for its research and development center at its headquarters in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon Province, and has begun full-scale operations.
The newly constructed research center has a total floor area of 6,600㎡ and consists of five above-ground floors, with an investment of 12 billion KRW. It is equipped with global-level research and development capabilities by introducing essential equipment for R&D such as ultrapure water systems, spectrophotometers, and the latest clinical immunology devices for comparative verification with clinical residual specimens.
About 120 researchers, including domestic and international master's and doctoral degree holders from various fields such as bio and electronic engineering, along with approximately 300 headquarters staff including sales personnel, will work at the research center. The research staff will focus on improving the performance of on-site diagnostic platforms and developing new products necessary for diagnosing various diseases in the new research building.
Boditech Med currently possesses 85 types of diagnostic kits. The company is concentrating its research capabilities on expanding its product lineup for infectious diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, hormones, and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) products that can monitor antibody therapeutic responses.
Additionally, the existing 3,100㎡ research facility will be repurposed as a cartridge production facility, with plans to increase cartridge production capacity to 150 million units by the end of this year.
