[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 15th, Noh Jin-seong, a member of the Gwangju Dong-gu Council, proposed through a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 1st regular meeting of the 295th session that Dong-gu should be reborn as one of the four friendly cities by creating a "disabled-friendly city."
This proposal to create a disabled-friendly city in Dong-gu can be seen as aligning with the goal of pursuing a community of communication and sharing in the 8th local government administration, rather than merely building an image.
Councilor Noh stated, "We must discard the entrenched social isolation and prejudice against people with disabilities and realize respect for human rights through the establishment of various infrastructures that can embrace all people with disabilities as members of the community." To achieve this, he especially proposed various projects such as ▲restructuring existing projects ▲expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities ▲guaranteeing mobility rights for people with disabilities.
Additionally, Councilor Noh said, "Through this proposal, I expect the district government to play an active and leading role in guaranteeing social equality and rights for people with disabilities," and added, "I hope a detailed service network to realize welfare for people with disabilities will be established in the future."
Meanwhile, Dong-gu has been promoting various projects through the establishment of three friendly cities for children, women, and the elderly, with specific and systematic plans focusing on rights, safety, health, and equality.
