Met with Over 200 Jinju Citizens to Communicate and Share Vision for the 8th Elected Provincial Government Administration
Governor Park Wan-su meeting with citizens of Jinju, Gyeongnam, discussing the vision for the 8th term of the provincial government and development plans for the Jinju area.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, visited Jinju on the 16th to listen to the voices of residents, following his visits to Sancheong, Hadong, and Yangsan last month.
On this day, Governor Park met with about 200 Jinju citizens to communicate and share the vision for the 8th term of the provincial government.
He stated, “Jinju is a key area for balanced development in western Gyeongnam,” adding, “Through improving living conditions and advancing the aerospace industry, it will emerge as a hub city in the southern part of the Republic of Korea.”
To this end, he proposed measures to improve transportation conditions, including the construction of the national highway between Jeongchon in Jinju and Chukdong in Sacheon, and a one-hour living zone railway connecting Jinju, Changwon, Busan, and Ulsan.
He further expressed his ambition, saying, “We will enhance the living conditions of the innovation city to develop Jinju into a premium city that is pleasant to live in and attracts many people.”
He also emphasized plans to create jobs by reflecting the characteristics of the region as the largest production base of the aerospace industry centered on the Jinju-Sacheon national aerospace industrial complex and attracting investments from related companies.
Governor Park said, “The two main pillars of the 8th term provincial government are economy and welfare,” and added, “A vibrant Gyeongnam will revitalize the provincial economy through investment and corporate attraction, and happy residents will alleviate social polarization so that all residents can feel happiness. I will lead Gyeongnam Province accordingly.”
He also added, “How Jinju grows and develops is the development of Gyeongnam and a barometer of balanced development,” and said, “We will actively support Jinju to create a new leap forward through the completion of the southern inland railway and the establishment of the aerospace industry cooperation complex.”
On this day, Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il explained major issues such as ▲ the creation of the aerospace industry cooperation district, ▲ the promotion of Jinju National Garden in the forest of Wolasan Mountain, and ▲ the establishment of the western Gyeongnam anti-aging bio cooperation complex, and requested active cooperation and support from the province for the construction of the Gyeongnam Global Game Center and the Jinju Traditional Culture Experience Center project.
Governor Park also visited the LH headquarters in Jinju Innovation City and held a meeting with officials from 11 relocated public institutions in the innovation city.
The meeting was attended by officials from the 11 relocated public institutions in the innovation city, including Seo Jong-gyun, Chairman of the Housing Management Corporation, Heo Geon-young, Director of the Defense Technology Quality Institute, Jo Gwang-yeon, Vice President of the Korea Ceramic Technology Institute, and Oh Young-oh, Head of Fair Management Innovation Headquarters at the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, where the current status and issues of the innovation city were discussed.
Governor Park said, “Our province is striving to improve living conditions so that public institutions can take root in the region,” and urged, “Each relocated public institution should cooperate closely to expand the hiring of local talent.”
