[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Poets Moon Hyo-chi and Son Eun-jo were honored with the 9th Seokjeong Poetry Literature Award and the Seokjeong Candlelight Poetry Literature Award, respectively.

Poet Moon Hyo-chi, born in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, debuted in 1966 after winning the New Year's Literary Contests of Hankook Ilbo and Seoul Shinmun. He has published poetry collections such as Mu-ryeongwang-ui Namu-sae (The Wooden Bird of King Muryeong), Namnaeri Yeopseo (Postcards from Namnaeri), Gyebaek-ui Kal (Gyebaek's Sword), and prose works like Siga Itneun Gil (The Road with Poetry). He has received honors including the Ok-gwan Cultural Medal, Kim Satgat Literary Award, Jeong Ji-yong Literary Award, and the Korean Poets Association Award.

Moon said in his acceptance speech, "I am immensely pleased to receive a literary award bearing the name of Teacher Shin Seokjeong at the end of my literary life, which has been influenced by him knowingly or unknowingly."

The '9th Seokjeong Candlelight Poetry Literature Award,' open to unpublished poems, was awarded to poet Son Eun-jo. Born in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, Son has previously won the Wolmyeong Literary Award in 2018 and the Dongri Mokwol Newcomer Award in 2020. Judges including poets Shin Dalja, Ando-hyun, Kim Young, and Jeong Gunsu praised Son's work Ilmol Jeunghogun (Sunset Syndrome), calling it "an outstanding piece that summons poetic subjects with sensory techniques and skillfully weaves patterns into language."

The award ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on the 24th at the Buan Seokjeong Literature Museum.

The Seokjeong Poetry Literature Award and the Seokjeong Candlelight Poetry Literature Award were established in 2014 to honor the poetic spirit of Shin Seokjeong (1907?1974), who left a significant mark on modern and contemporary literary history.
