Forty-two employees from the Subi-myeon Happiness Welfare Center, the Resident Welfare Division, the Forest and Greenery Division, and the Ecological Park Office, along with seven members of the Women's Association, headed to farms facing difficulties securing labor due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and population aging.
On that day, chili pepper harvesting assistance was carried out at the farms of Mr. Jo in Jukpari and Mr. Kim in Balliri.
Mr. Jo, who received the helping hands, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I had given up on picking chili peppers due to a sudden illness, but the Yeongyang-gun staff helped me, which was a great support."
Mr. Kim said, "I was very worried about the harvest due to long-term illness and limited mobility, but the help was very much appreciated."
Oh Do-chang, the mayor of Yeongyang-gun, said, "I am glad that we could ease the difficulties of farmers facing labor shortages even a little, and I am thankful to the employees who offered their help despite their busy schedules."
