[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Juri] Netflix's "Squid Game" became the honored winner at the Emmy Awards, the most prestigious event in the U.S. broadcasting industry, by winning the directing award as the first non-English language drama to do so. The cheers continued at the Emmy after-party, where the spotlight was on actor O Yeong-su (78), who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
On the 12th (local time), after the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA, winners, nominees, and other celebrities gathered at the after-party.
The center of attention at the after-party was actor O Yeong-su. His appearance was revealed through a video posted on Twitter by Mina Harris, an American lawyer and producer.
In the video, O Yeong-su is dancing passionately to "Leave the Door Open" by Silk Sonic, the duo formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. Despite being in his 70s, he danced with great enthusiasm, attracting a circle of people who gathered to watch and enjoy his dance moves while filming him.
Mina Harris wrote, "O Yeong-su cutting it UP." The video quickly spread on social media and recorded over 400,000 views.
Meanwhile, at the ceremony that day, "Squid Game" lifted two trophies. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who won the directing award, achieved the milestone of being the first non-English language drama to win, and Lee Jung-jae also consecutively won the Best Actor award.
