[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] BMW Korea announced on the 14th that it will officially launch the ultra-high-performance luxury sports cars New M8 Competition Coupe and New M8 Competition Gran Coupe in the domestic market.
The BMW New M8 Competition Coupe and New M8 Competition Gran Coupe are ultra-high-performance models that combine the luxury of the New 8 Series with the unique performance of the ‘M’ series. While maintaining their distinctive powerful performance, differentiated elements have been added to both the exterior and interior, making them even more attractive.
First, the exterior offers a total of eight new colors, including BMW Individual paint options. Additionally, the M Shadowline Lights, which feature darkened headlights, and 20-inch M lightweight alloy wheels finished in two colors?black and gray?harmonize to provide a sportier feel.
Inside, a larger 12.3-inch control display is installed, allowing for more intuitive and easier operation of various vehicle functions. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, is standard, enabling convenient driving in daily life. Furthermore, M Sport seats are standard in the front, firmly supporting the occupants' bodies to provide the best driving environment even on the track.
Under the hood, a 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine delivers a maximum output of 625 horsepower and a peak torque of 76.5 kg·m. This engine, boasting the most powerful performance in the BMW model lineup, combines the high-revving characteristics unique to BMW M engines with maximum torque delivered across a wide range, resulting in explosive acceleration. Paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission featuring the latest Drive Logic and the M xDrive system, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Moreover, it is designed to deliver dynamic driving performance not only on public roads but also on the track. Chassis technology, developed with know-how gained from the BMW M8 GTE racing car, is customized according to each model’s characteristics. The electronically controlled suspension and M Servotronic steering system work together to provide the sharp handling performance unique to BMW M.
Additionally, the Active M Sport Differential and M Carbon Ceramic Brakes are standard, enabling more dynamic driving even on the track.
Furthermore, BMW Laserlight with adaptive cornering function and BMW Selective Beam, which includes a high-beam assistant function, are standard, ensuring optimal visibility according to weather and driving conditions. Advanced driver assistance systems such as Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant, which includes Reversing Assistant, are also applied.
The price is 240.8 million KRW for the New M8 Competition Coupe and 240.4 million KRW for the New M8 Competition Gran Coupe. (Prices include VAT and a 3.5% reduction in individual consumption tax)
