Ostem CardioTech Establishes Korea's Largest Cardiovascular Stent Production Facility... Producing Approximately 40,000 Units Annually

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Ostem Implant's subsidiary, Ostem Cardiotech, has established the largest cardiovascular stent production facility in South Korea.

Ostem Cardiotech announced on the 14th that it has relocated its headquarters and production facility to the Knowledge Industry Center in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province. With this move, Ostem Cardiotech will produce stents and balloon catheters in a facility four times larger than its previous one.

The new production facility spans 562㎡ and plans to produce 43,200 stents annually. This volume accounts for approximately 38% of the annual domestic stent usage of about 112,000 units.

A representative from Ostem Cardiotech stated, “Based on the newly established production facility and the excellent research and development (R&D) capabilities of our company-affiliated Stent Research Institute, all employees will unite to strive for securing competitiveness.”

Ostem Cardiotech changed its name in 2006 when Ostem Implant acquired shares of Cardiotech. Its main product is drug-eluting coronary artery stents, and last year, it became the first domestic manufacturer to launch the Everolimus drug-eluting stent ‘CENTUM’.
