According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency on the 13th, driver A (in his 30s) of a Korando SUV was driving in the wrong direction at around 1:33 a.m. on the 12th at the entrance of Dongmasan Interchange (IC) in Masanhwoin-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, and collided head-on with a Sportage SUV driving normally in the opposite direction.
As a result of the accident, Sportage driver B (30) was injured in the waist and neck and was transported to a nearby hospital. A also sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Both A and B are reported to have no life-threatening conditions.
B, who was driving normally, was confirmed to be a professional baseball player.
A, who caused the accident, was found to have been driving under the influence. The blood alcohol concentration at the time was investigated to be above the license cancellation level.
The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident, including whether speeding was involved, based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and witness statements.
