[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The season for enjoying nighttime walks has arrived. While beautiful during the day, the charm of Jongno shines even brighter under the night sky, with nighttime programs that let you experience various attractions around Jongno.
Jongno-gu (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) is operating the 'Hanyangdoseong Moonlight Tour' and the Jongno Public Park No-su Art Museum 'Monthly Night Tour' starting this month, allowing visitors to fully enjoy Jongno's history, culture, and night views.
First, the 'Hanyangdoseong Moonlight Tour' takes place on the second and fourth Fridays of September and October from 8 PM to 10 PM. Participants walk the Naksan section (Heunginjimun Park - Naksan Park - Jangsu Village - Hyehwamun) with a guide, listening to in-depth explanations and learning about the long history of the area.
Registration opens two weeks before the start date on the Seoul Public Service Reservation website, accepting up to 100 participants in teams of 10 on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should wear comfortable clothes such as sneakers or hiking shoes and bring water. The program is free of charge.
Additionally, the Jongno Public Park No-su Art Museum (34 Ogin 1-gil) has prepared a nighttime opening program called 'Monthly Night Tour' to fully experience the autumn night atmosphere and explore the artistic world of painter Park No-su.
From the 23rd of this month to October 8th, the program runs every Friday and Saturday in two sessions: 8 PM to 9 PM and 9 PM to 10 PM. The tour includes viewing the special exhibition 'Painter's Memorandum' and the outdoor exhibition space.
Visitors can appreciate several works and related materials featuring Park No-su's distinctive vivid yet clear colors, including his paintings of 'Mountains,' as well as photographs by artist Cho Sun-hee. The museum also offers various attractions such as the garden carefully cultivated by the painter during his lifetime, collected artifacts, garden stones, and viewing stones throughout the museum. Each session accepts 15 participants through the Jongno Cultural Foundation website and on-site registration.
District Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, "I recommend enjoying the nighttime atmosphere of Jongno, where long history and culture breathe, and creating unforgettable memories. We will strive to provide residents with high-quality cultural benefits."
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) will operate a family forest program from September 14 to November 30.
The family forest experience program is held every Wednesday and Saturday at the Grasshopper Toddler Forest Experience Center located inside Geumcheon Sports Park.
The program is designed to help children develop interest in the forest through seasonal activities such as ▲Spiders and Spider Webs ▲Autumn Forest Experienced with Five Senses ▲Strategies of Fruits, along with hands-on experiences of meeting insects by playing freely and craft activities using natural materials.
On Wednesdays, the program runs from 4 PM to 5:30 PM, and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM, targeting families with toddlers. Residents wishing to participate can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the Geumcheon-gu Office website's 'Integrated Reservation' system.
The program schedule may change depending on on-site conditions and may be canceled due to rain or other weather conditions.
District Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon said, "This family forest education program can help recover tired bodies and minds amid the resurgence of COVID-19 and enhance family bonds. I hope children feel the seasonal changes firsthand and grow up healthy while interacting together in nature."
