Namwon Public Health Center Recruiting Participants for 2nd Session of Korean Medicine S-Line Classroom


[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City Health Center (Director Han Yong-jae) announced on the 13th that it is recruiting 15 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for the 2nd session of the Korean Medicine S-Line Classroom to manage obesity among local residents.


According to the results of the 1st session of the S-Line Classroom, which was conducted both face-to-face and online in the first half of 2022, participants lost an average of 3.6 kg, and some showed a 15% reduction in BMI.


The 2nd session of the S-Line Classroom in the second half of this year will also be conducted both face-to-face and online.


Obesity is a disease that requires proper weight management as it is a major cause of increased incidence of various cancers and adult diseases.


The Korean Medicine Obesity Class will run for 10 weeks, three times a week, from next month 5th to December 9th, offering systematic obesity management. It will provide Sasang constitutional diagnosis and customized programs including obesity and Sasang constitution education, dietary therapy, exercise guidance, and Korean medicine treatments (acupuncture, obesity medication) by experts such as Korean medicine doctors and exercise instructors.


Applications are open until the 23rd, and anyone aged 20 or older residing in the area can participate.


Namwon City Health Center plans to select final participants after conducting preliminary body composition (InBody) tests, blood pressure, blood sugar tests, and individual consultations with Korean medicine doctors for applicants.


A health center official said, “In addition to the obesity management class, we will do our best to improve the health and quality of life of local residents by operating various Korean medicine health promotion programs.”
