[Asia Economy Reporter Bang Je-il] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, had his college girlfriend put memorabilia filled with memories of Musk up for auction.

According to CNN on the 12th (local time), Jennifer Gwen, who was a campus couple with Musk at the University of Pennsylvania in 1994, put memorabilia filled with memories of Musk up for auction on RR Auction, an auction platform based in Boston. The auction items include a birthday card personally written by Musk, 18 photos featuring Musk, and a gold necklace gifted by Musk.

The item expected to fetch the highest price is the birthday card. The birthday card Musk gave to Gwen on her birthday reads, "Happy Birthday Jennifer, Love Elon." The current bid is $10,000 (approximately 13.79 million KRW).

The gold necklace featured in this auction was made from emerald stones mined from a mine in Zambia, Africa, owned by Musk's father, Errol Musk.

Gwen explained about the necklace, "It was given with a note saying 'Love, love, love' when I visited Musk's mother's house in Toronto, Canada during the 1994 Christmas holiday."

The 18 photos capturing Musk's college days show a youthful side of Musk that has not been publicly revealed. They include images of him hanging out with friends, spending time freely in the dormitory, and embracing Gwen. A photo of Musk sitting at a desk smiling even saw bids rise up to $1,129.

In an interview with foreign media, Gwen revealed that she decided to hold this auction to raise tuition fees for her stepson's college education.

She said Musk was "very ambitious and pursued ideals," and "she expected that he would accomplish something."

Gwen added, "Musk was affectionate but did not often show his feelings in front of others," and "He liked being together and liked having someone by his side who would support him."
