Foreigners Net Sell 12 Trillion KRW in KOSPI This Year... Individuals Net Buy 22.5 Trillion KRW [Image source=Yonhap News]


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Foreign investors have net sold nearly 12 trillion won worth of stocks in the domestic stock market this year.


According to the Korea Exchange on the 11th, foreign investors net sold 11.96 trillion won worth of stocks in the KOSPI market as of the 8th of this year.


The stock most sold by foreign investors in the domestic market was Samsung Electronics. They net sold over 9 trillion won worth as of the 7th. Next were Naver (NAVER, 1.737 trillion won), LG Energy Solution (1.6067 trillion won), Samsung Electronics Preferred (1.3812 trillion won), and Kakao (1.2954 trillion won).


Net purchases were led by Woori Financial Group, SK Hynix, Hyundai Glovis, Kia, and LG Chem.


Stocks sold by foreign investors for profit-taking were bought by individual investors, who net purchased 22.55 trillion won worth this year.


They net purchased over 17 trillion won worth of Samsung Electronics and 2.3 trillion won worth of Naver. Stocks such as Kakao, Samsung Electronics Preferred, and SK Hynix were each net purchased over 1 trillion won, while LG Energy Solution, Hyundai Glovis, LG Chem, Celltrion, and Hanwha Solutions were net sold.


Foreign investors temporarily engaged in bargain buying from mid-July to the end of last month, purchasing over 6 trillion won worth of stocks during this period, but returned to a net selling position starting this month. In this month, foreign investors have sold stocks for six consecutive days as of the 8th, net selling over 1.7 trillion won, while individuals net purchased over 2.28 trillion won.
