Jeonnam Volunteer Fire Brigade Association Supports Typhoon Damage Recovery in Pohang, Gyeongbuk

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Volunteer Fire Brigade Association (President Lee Onam) has launched recovery support activities in the Pohang area of Gyeongbuk, which suffered severe damage from Typhoon Hinnamnor, the 11th typhoon.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 8th, about 100 people including Jeonnam volunteer firefighters and Jeonnam fire personnel visited the flood-damaged areas of Pohang, Gyeongbuk, in the morning to carry out volunteer activities such as organizing and cleaning household items and cleaning.

Along with this, they delivered donations to the affected residents to help with the swift recovery.

The Pohang area in Gyeongbuk suffered enormous human and property damage, including 12 people missing or dead and flooding of houses and stores, due to the northward advance of Typhoon Hinnamnor on the 6th.

Prior to this volunteer activity, exchanges for mutual cooperation between the Yeong and Honam regions have continued during difficult times such as natural disasters.

In fact, in Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk, about 400 volunteers from five organizations supported Gurye-gun in Jeonnam, which suffered severe damage from heavy rain in August 2020, carrying out relief activities with love.

President Lee Onam of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Association said, “Although it is a small gesture, I hope it brings comfort to the residents of Pohang, Gyeongbuk, and that they recover quickly and return to their daily lives,” and added, “I express my gratitude to the Jeonnam volunteer firefighters who stepped forward as if it were their own matter during the Chuseok holiday season.”

Meanwhile, Governor Kim Young-rok chaired a disaster safety countermeasure meeting on the afternoon of the 6th and instructed to review support plans for damage recovery activities in the Gyeongbuk area in cooperation with the Jeonnam Professional Advisory Volunteer Group, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, and Jeonnam Volunteer Fire Brigade for mutual cooperation between Yeong and Honam regions.
