[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] As regulations such as quarantine exemptions for overseas arrivals are eased, demand for honeymoons and overseas travel is increasing.

According to the travel industry on the 10th, with the lifting of social distancing, quarantine exemptions for overseas arrivals, and the abolition of pre-entry PCR tests, travel demand has surged.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Aviation Information Portal System, the number of international passengers last month was 2,111,006, nearly six times higher than January this year (356,836). Compared to August 2019, before COVID-19 (8,098,512), it is about 26%, but as demand for overseas travel steadily increases, overseas travel is showing signs of recovery.

Accordingly, the travel industry is responding to the increased demand through honeymoon and overseas travel promotions.

Interpark is holding an 'Autumn Honeymoon Promotion' until the end of this month, planning travel products centered on the Maldives, Bali, and Phuket. Benefits such as department store gifts and room upgrades are provided to those who make reservations. Coupang is also offering discounts on resorts, hotels, and spa vouchers through its 'Chuseok Travel Special Deals' promotion.

An additional discount of 50,000 KRW per person is applied to those booking Phuket and Koh Samui.

Additionally, representative Maldives resorts such as Jumeirah Resort, Seaside Finolhu Resort, and OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli Resort are being offered at special prices.
