[Asia Economy Reporter Bang Je-il] The secret behind a dessert shop famous for its special dessert near a university in Bolivia has been revealed. This dessert gained popularity through word of mouth, with people saying it made them feel good just by eating it. However, the secret behind the dessert shop was "drugs."

According to local media El Deber on the 7th (local time), Bolivian police arrested a university student, Mr. A (22), who sold brownies near a university area. Police investigations found that Mr. A's brownies contained illegal recreational marijuana.

Since last month, Mr. A had been developing and selling special desserts near Gabriel Rene Moreno University in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

Mr. A actively promoted his brownies by posting photos he made himself on social networking services (SNS). In particular, he encouraged potential buyers by leaving comments such as "It makes you happy" and "Made with a magical recipe" to those interested in the dessert.

For about six weeks, Mr. A even delivered brownies directly to those who wished to purchase them. The price was about 5,000 Korean won per piece.

Meanwhile, police investigations revealed that Mr. A also sold chocolates and jelly containing recreational marijuana ingredients besides brownies.

When asked why he committed such a bold crime, Mr. A answered, "To buy concert tickets."

The court issued a 90-day preventive detention order against Mr. A, who sold the drug-infused desserts. Currently, Bolivian police are investigating whether there are accomplices and are searching for the whereabouts of the person who manufactured the brownies.

Meanwhile, in countries like the United States where marijuana is legal, "marijuana brownies" and "marijuana chocolates" are sold. Therefore, when traveling to countries where recreational marijuana is legal, if staff ask for identification, it is highly likely that the product contains cannabis, so it is advisable to avoid purchasing it.

Also, it is important to carefully check whether the product includes labels such as "THC" or "Cannabis," indicating the presence of marijuana ingredients.
