30-Hour Active Noise Cancelling Usage Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Apple has unveiled the 'AirPods Pro 2,' the successor to the 'AirPods Pro,' after three years. The design retains the same 'bean sprout stem' shape as its predecessor. The price has increased by 30,000 KRW compared to three years ago.
On the 8th (Korean time), Apple held an online event called 'Far out' and introduced new products including the iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch 8, and AirPods Pro 2.
The AirPods Pro 2 features a new 'H2 chip,' providing noise-canceling performance twice as powerful as the previous model. The on-device processing powered by the H2 chip significantly reduces loud ambient noises such as car sirens, construction tools, and noisy speakers at concerts.
With a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier, users can enjoy richer bass and clear, crisp sound across a wider frequency range. The Transparency mode allows users to stay aware of their surroundings and communicate smoothly even while wearing the AirPods Pro 2.
The AirPods Pro 2 pairs instantly with all Apple devices, making setup easier, and a new dedicated AirPods section has been added within iOS settings for easier use and control of AirPods features.
Battery performance has also improved. The AirPods Pro 2 offers 1.5 hours longer listening time compared to its predecessor, lasting up to 6 hours with Active Noise Cancellation enabled. When using the case to recharge the product four more times, users can experience a total of 30 hours of Active Noise Cancellation, which is 6 hours longer than the previous model.
The charging case has been upgraded as well. The AirPods Pro 2 case features a sweat- and water-resistant design4 suitable for everyday use and includes a lanyard loop5 to keep it close at hand. Users with an iPhone equipped with a U1 chip can locate the case by following directions provided by the Precision Finding feature, and the case also has a built-in speaker that can emit louder sounds.
The AirPods Pro 2 will be released in over 50 countries, including the United States, starting on the 9th, with in-store sales beginning on the 23rd. The launch price of the AirPods Pro 2 is 359,000 KRW, which is 30,000 KRW higher than the first-generation model released three years ago.
