[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] North Korea held the Supreme People's Assembly, the highest state leadership body according to the constitution, on the 7th. This corresponds to a regular session of the National Assembly in South Korea.
The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 8th, "The 1st day of the 7th session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held on September 7 at the Mansudae Assembly Hall."
Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party, did not attend this meeting. The news agency stated that Kim Tok-hun, Pak Jong-chon, and Ri Pyong-chol, members of the Party Political Bureau Standing Committee, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the Socialist Rural Development Law and the Forest Greening Law, and these bills were adopted unanimously. There was no news regarding appointments to the State Affairs Commission in the report on that day.
The news agency reported that the meeting is ongoing. Accordingly, it is expected that the Supreme People's Assembly will be held for more than one day.
