Damyang-gun Takes Proactive Measures to Prevent Solitary Deaths Among Elderly Living Alone


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it will strengthen elderly care as a proactive measure to prevent solitary deaths among elderly living alone who are in the blind spots of care.


To this end, the county recently conducted a full survey of elderly living alone aged 65 or older who reside without an address in the area, with the cooperation of village chiefs, women's association presidents, and care life managers, discovering 25 elderly living alone in welfare blind spots.


The seniors identified in this survey will be included in the Elderly Guardians Group project, where they are paired one-on-one with volunteers to check on their well-being, and will receive various services similar to existing beneficiaries.


A county official stated, "We will continue to proactively identify elderly living alone in care blind spots and do our best to improve elderly welfare through the provision of various services."
