Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, visited Dongmasan Market located in Masanhwoin District to inspect the inconveniences caused by the typhoon.

With Chuseok just three days away, Dongmasan Market, which had just passed through the typhoon, was busy welcoming customers after checking for any facility damages, not wanting to miss the rare peak season.

Mayor Hong said, “Thanks to the preventive measures taken by both citizens and merchants due to the so-called record-breaking typhoon, we were able to avoid damage,” and added, “With Chuseok just around the corner, I hope many citizens visit the market and bring smiles to the faces of all the merchants.”

Dongmasan Market recently completed anti-slip floor paving work to enhance the competitiveness of the traditional market, and also installed drainage trenches to resolve clogged drains caused by heavy rain, showing the changed appearance of the market.

Earlier, Mayor Hong visited the Gyeongnam Migrant Welfare Center for a time of communication. He said, “Changwon is a city with many foreign workers, and we are reviewing support measures to protect their human rights and ensure stable settlement,” adding, “I hope many people will take an interest to ease the loneliness of migrants during the Chuseok holiday.”

The city’s on-site visits for Chuseok preparations are scheduled to continue until the 7th.
