[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Yoon Yoon-jin] Shin Pyeong, a lawyer known as one of President Yoon Seok-yeol's mentors, described former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok on the 6th as a "rare fighter," analyzing that Lee is planning to win the next general election after founding a new party.
On the 6th, Lawyer Shin posted on his Facebook a post titled "Lee Jun-seok's Political Realignment Plan," stating this. He said, "I previously predicted that Lee Jun-seok would claim his misfortune was solely caused by unjust 'political persecution.' He is now successfully making the public understand this distorted frame as the truth."
Listing Lee's recent moves, Lawyer Shin pointed out, "He is now acting under highly precise calculations." Shin said, "Whenever there is an opportunity, he encourages his sympathizers to join the People Power Party. Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who stands at the top of the faction, also seems to be gradually increasing his silent movements," indicating that Lee is consolidating his forces.
Furthermore, he pointed out that Lee is sharply confronting President Yoon and claimed that Lee's actions are aimed at the defection of pro-Yoon Seok-yeol lawmakers. Lawyer Shin analyzed, "He is aiming for President Yoon, who cannot endure humiliation, to defect impulsively. After that, he might be targeting the accompanying defection of lawmakers who follow President Yoon."
He went on to suggest that the opposition party, the Democratic Party, could also face division or dissolution, explaining, "Naturally, a time for political realignment will come, and if he or his political father, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, appears as the banner of a new conservative party, they will be confident in achieving meaningful results in the next general election."
Lawyer Shin emphasized, "Let's not misjudge him (former leader Lee) with excellent strategies as merely a whining child. It is necessary to carefully focus and watch the stages of 'political realignment' that he and his sympathizers are taking."
Meanwhile, former leader Lee continues to criticize President Yoon and pro-Yoon People Power Party lawmakers through social media and media interviews, maintaining a public opinion war. He is scheduled to appear before the police on the 16th on charges including sexual bribery, evidence destruction instruction, and false accusation.
