Utilizing 1,000 Campuses Worldwide... Dongseo University Introduces 'Film Director-Type' Professor System and AAU Asia Online University Dongseo University New Millennium Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongseo University, celebrating its 30th anniversary, has unveiled a blueprint for becoming a future-oriented university that will continue for 100 years.

On the 6th at 4 p.m., Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk is scheduled to reveal the university’s future plans during the 2030 DSU Vision presentation at the 30th anniversary ceremony held in the Sohyang Art Hall on the 2nd floor of the New Millennium Building on campus.

President Jang plans to first respond to the declining school-age population and concentration in the metropolitan area by transitioning to a low-cost, high-efficiency education system and will boldly introduce a ‘Film Director-type Professor System.’

In this system, full-time professors will act as coordinators like film directors, designing courses and recruiting necessary teaching staff from field experts to conduct team teaching.

This approach allows the university to reduce fixed costs while students benefit from the latest, field-oriented education. It will initially be implemented mainly in the College of Engineering starting next semester.

There are also plans to develop premium specialization fields. By creating premium specialization fields, the university aims to achieve early status as Asia’s number one and become a university that attracts students from both domestic and international locations.

Lastly, to attract outstanding foreign students, the university plans to establish an online university called AAU (Asian Alliance University) in Malaysia.

Dongseo University will broadcast online lectures, and students recruited from all over Asia will access AAU from their residences to receive classes, representing a new form of university.

Students will complete credits through online classes for two years and then study abroad at Dongseo University in their third year to obtain their degrees.

Finally, Dongseo University will also promote the 3E (Excellence, Everywhere, Engagement) strategy for a new leap forward.

Excellence means further developing specialization fields into premium ones to leap forward as Asia’s number one university in cultural content.

Everywhere means providing Dongseo University students with opportunities to encounter learning environments anywhere in the world.

To this end, Dongseo University plans to develop more than 1,000 Global Experiential Learning Sites (GELS) worldwide and dispatch students there.

The last, Engagement, involves redefining relationships as a regional university with local communities, nationwide, and neighboring cities to maximize students’ potential and open new opportunities.

President Jang Je-guk said, “Dongseo University’s 30 years have been made possible thanks to all staff, students, and citizens. We will strive even harder to provide students with new experiences through differentiated educational programs and contribute to regional development, achieving the number one position in Asia’s cultural content field and standing tall at the center of the world as a ‘global prestigious private university.’”

Attendees at Dongseo University’s 30th anniversary ceremony included Director Im Kwon-taek, National Assembly members Jang Je-won and Baek Jong-heon, Inga Zal?nien?, President of Lithuania’s Mykolas Romeris University, Hong Won-hwa, Chairman of the Korea Council for University Education, Maruyama Kohei, Consul General of the Consulate-General of Japan in Busan, and Kang Ui-gu, Head of the Busan Consular Corps.
