[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that it is working swiftly with operators to restore communication and paid broadcasting services damaged by Typhoon 'Hinnamnor' No. 11.

Damage to wired and wireless communications and paid broadcasting was concentrated mainly in the southern regions during the early morning hours of the day. As of 7 a.m., a total of 141,570 lines experienced outages, of which 81,988 lines have been restored (restoration rate 58%).

The Ministry of Science and ICT stated that communication and paid broadcasting operators are deploying emergency restoration teams starting from the areas affected by the typhoon to quickly recover the remaining wired, wireless, and paid broadcasting damages. Wireless communication is minimizing call disruptions by increasing the output of nearby base stations and deploying mobile base stations.

Additionally, the Ministry held a meeting at 11 a.m. chaired by the Minister to review typhoon preparedness with major communication and paid broadcasting operators. An information and communication accident crisis alert at the 'caution' level has been issued to activate an emergency response system, focusing all efforts on the swift restoration of communication and paid broadcasting services.
