[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Kakao Entertainment, Neptune, and Colorverse announced on the 6th that the three companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on metaverse (extended virtual reality) business and services.
Through this agreement, they will explore various cooperation methods that link and utilize the open 3D metaverse platform 'Colorverse' with the intellectual property (IP) related to webtoons, web novels, and K-pop owned by Kakao Entertainment.
Kakao Entertainment plans to provide new services within the metaverse using 'Colorverse.' For example, it is possible to create metaverse worlds themed around K-pop or virtual space services using major story IPs. Colorverse is an open 3D metaverse platform developed and serviced by Neptune and Colorverse Co., Ltd.
Colorverse utilizes web streaming technology that allows movement without restrictions in web or app environments. Using this, users can move and access the 3D metaverse directly from 2D services such as KakaoTalk. Key services can be experienced on mobile web without installing a separate app.
Users can watch performances of their favorite singers or find novels by their favorite authors and enjoy them in new ways within the metaverse. It is also expected that users with similar interests will gather within the metaverse to create, distribute, and share user-generated content (UGC) together.
