[Asia Economy Reporter Bang Je-il] As Typhoon Hinnamnor, the 11th typhoon, made landfall on Jeju Island on the night of the 5th, the sight of dump trucks parked tightly in front of commercial buildings has become a hot topic on online communities.

On the 6th, posts titled "Current Status of Dump Trucks in Jeju Island" appeared on various online community boards. These posts included a brief message saying "(The dump trucks are) blocking the stores" along with several photos. The photos show dump trucks parked in a way that completely blocks the front of restaurants with their vehicles. Except for the signboards, the stores are almost perfectly hidden behind the trucks.

In particular, one truck is parked not on the road but on the sidewalk, blocking the front of a store. Netizens who saw the photos speculated that the owners intentionally parked this way out of concern that strong winds might break the glass.

The author stated, "It seems good to park like this in emergencies. Fighting to the Jeju freight drivers." Netizens left comments such as "This is coexistence," "So the glass windows don't break because of the strong wind," "It's impressive how reliable it is," and "Dump trucks also blocked the wind during previous typhoons."

However, some netizens criticized this as well. They pointed out that when dump trucks park on the sidewalk, the pavement blocks, which have weak ground, could be damaged. In the worst case, it could lead to damage to water and sewage pipes that might be buried under the pavement blocks.

Nevertheless, on various online communities, the sight of dump trucks protecting fragile glass from the wind left a strong impression. Especially, many expressed being moved by the fact that the trucks were parked this way despite the possibility of having to pay fines for parking on the sidewalk.
