[Seoul District News] Eunpyeong-gu Establishes Dedicated Counters at Jeungsan-dong and Galhyeon 1-dong Community Centers for Customized Local Tax Filing and Payment Consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is operating the first-ever “Tax Administration One-stop” counter among Seoul’s autonomous districts to provide tax administrative services tailored to the residents’ perspective.
With an expected increase in tax consultations due to urban maintenance projects, dedicated counters have been established at two remote locations, Jungsan-dong and Galhyeon 1-dong community centers, centered around the district office. Residents can conveniently handle tax-related tasks by visiting the nearest one-stop counter, even if it is not at the district office.
The plan is to realize resident-centered visiting tax administration, minimizing the need for residents to travel far to the district office, thereby reducing inconvenience caused by tax tasks and increasing satisfaction.
The main services of the one-stop counter include providing customized consultation services on local tax filing and payment procedures, and precautions during filing. It offers convenient and prompt tax consultation and administrative services necessary for residents.
Local tax-related services include ▲ acquisition tax filing and payment and guidance on exemption systems ▲ property tax consultation. Additionally, various documents such as requests for change of delivery location and refund claims are accepted and immediately linked to the district office for processing.
If residents want national tax consultation, they can be connected with village tax accountants to receive more convenient consultations on complex and difficult tax-related matters. Local tax-related tasks and tax consultations, which were previously only available at the district office, can now be accessed through the one-stop counter.
Analysis of tax-related district office visit complaints over the past three years revealed that the majority of visitors were elderly with mobility difficulties, visiting mainly for simple tasks such as issuing tax bills. Accordingly, the one-stop tax administration counter was established to expand resident convenience and reduce inconveniences.
Going forward, the district plans to continuously promote organizational culture improvement and work innovation to enhance tax administrative services that residents can feel. To increase work expertise and efficiency, the corporate tax team was divided into the corporate management team and the housing evaluation team.
Active promotion to residents will also be undertaken. To reduce taxpayer confusion caused by frequent local tax law amendments, the district will produce local tax guidance content using SNS, operate visiting tax helpers for the elderly, and run KakaoTalk refund application services.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We expect that the accessible one-stop tax consultation counter will provide high-quality tax administrative services to residents and increase convenience.”
