Yeonggwang-gun Holds Emergency Countermeasure Meeting in Preparation for Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ Approaching North

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it held an emergency countermeasure briefing on the 4th in a small conference room to minimize damage to the lives and property of residents in preparation for the northward approach of Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’.

At this emergency meeting, reports on the results of pre-inspections and response situations for typhoon preparedness in each department were received from all department heads, and additional damage prevention and proactive preventive measures were requested.

The county confirmed the real-time monitoring of the typhoon’s progress, dissemination of information for rapid response, and the operation status of emergency restoration teams upon issuance of special warnings.

In addition, measures such as securing and lifting small vessels, pre-safety inspections and surveillance activities in disaster-prone areas including landslide risk zones, flood-prone areas, and steep slopes, as well as inspections of various water facilities such as drainage channels, stormwater pipes, and drainage pumping stations were rechecked to support minimizing resident damage.

County Governor Kang Jongman said, “We will prioritize the prevention of damage to residents’ lives and property by thoroughly preparing for the typhoon in advance and following the principle of taking immediate action on-site before reporting in case of damage,” and added, “I ask that all efforts be made for rapid recovery by deploying personnel and equipment in cooperation with county employees, military units, and fire departments.”

The county has been operating the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters since the 2nd, and with the government raising the crisis alert level directly from level 1 to level 3, more than half of the staff have entered an emergency duty system.

Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ is moving northward with a central pressure of 930 hPa, maximum wind speed of 50 m/s, and movement speed of 24 m/s, and is forecasted to bring strong winds and heavy rain, raising concerns about significant damage.
