[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dong-Eui Science University is collaborating with local industries to establish the ‘Global K-Food Research Institute,’ equipped with a standard workplace for people with disabilities.

On the 31st, at the university’s main building, Dong-Eui Science University President Kim Young-do, Han Nal Communication CEO Lee Eun-ho, and Jaeho Foods Chairman Shin Jae-seop signed a joint agreement for co-investment in the ‘Global K-Food Research Institute,’ a standard workplace for people with disabilities.

The standard workplace for people with disabilities aims to create stable jobs for individuals with severe disabilities who face difficulties in vocational activities.

The workplace must meet specific criteria certified by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, including ▲employing people with disabilities for at least 30% of all regular workers ▲hiring a certain proportion of individuals with severe disabilities ▲possessing facilities to ensure convenience for people with disabilities.

The launch of the research institute was made possible by the shared consensus among the university and local industries to realize social values such as creating employment for people with disabilities and continuing the global ‘K-Food craze.’

The institute, to be jointly established by the three organizations in November, will also carry out various product development, education, and scholarship projects for nurturing talent.

Jaeho Foods will conduct research on K-Foodization of seafood products tailored to the characteristics of the Busan region and will be responsible for developing products such as meal kits and HMR (Home Meal Replacement). Han Nal Communication will handle the distribution and sales of the developed products.

The institute also plans to operate a K-Food youth startup project support program.

Targeting young entrepreneurs, it aims to actively support startup activities to simultaneously address youth employment issues and create local jobs.

President Kim Young-do said, “The Global K-Food Research Institute is a project that can bring a new wave of innovation to food culture and represents a new challenge for the university. Based on organic cooperation among institutions, we will generously support the institute to grow into an organization that benefits the local community.”

Vice President Kang Ho-young said, “Jaeho Foods is a comprehensive seafood distribution company that puts great effort into discovering healthy food that our families can trust and eat. We feel a responsibility to lead cooperation toward a new leap and development of the local seafood industry and will do our best.”

CEO Lee Eun-ho said, “Han Nal Communication, as a preliminary social enterprise, is leading public interest realization through various projects. We recognize the creation of employment for people with disabilities as fulfilling corporate social responsibility and will contribute to creating quality jobs for people with disabilities through this agreement.”
