Typhoon Hinnamnor Preparedness, Inspection of Gimhae Hallim Drainage Pump Station

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the morning of the 4th, Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, visited Masan Fish Market in Changwon City and Hallim Drainage Pump Station in Gimhae City to inspect the on-site response to Typhoon Hinnamnor.
Governor Park toured the Masan Fish Market and the surrounding area including Daetgeori, which suffered heavy damage from Typhoon Maemi in 2003, as well as the Masan Bay flood prevention embankment installed in 2015 and the Guhang Drainage Pump Station.
He received a report on typhoon preparedness from the Director of Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau of Changwon City.
Governor Park said, "Typhoon Hinnamnor has unprecedented power, and combined with high tide, preparations for coastal and low-lying risk areas must be more thorough than ever," adding, "Please do your best until the end, including checking the operation of drainage pumps, maintaining the emergency response system, and handling marine debris after the typhoon passes."
He continued, "With the Chuseok peak season approaching, the typhoon will deepen the worries of fish market merchants and small business owners," and added, "Let's respond quickly in case of emergencies to minimize damage."

Afterwards, Governor Park visited the Hallim Drainage Pump Station in Gimhae City together with Hong Taeyong, Mayor of Gimhae, and Choi Hakbeom, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Council.
According to the province, the Hallim Drainage Pump Station is a flood defense facility for the Hwapocheon River basin, installed as part of flood recovery projects after the damage caused by Typhoon Rusa in 2002.
After receiving a report on typhoon preparedness, Governor Park emphasized, "The province and cities/counties must cooperate more closely to protect the lives and property of residents," and said, "We will thoroughly inspect risk factors by region and ensure thorough preemptive measures."
A natural disaster official urged residents, "Please check building drains, surrounding retaining walls, and embankments," and said, "When the typhoon approaches, refrain from going out and watch disaster broadcasts so that you can respond quickly in emergency situations."
