[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, went on a local patrol on the morning of the 3rd to prepare for Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’.
The mayor departed from the district office at 6 a.m. and visited Gyeomjaegyo Bridge, the underpass near Hyehwa Station, the Imun 3 Housing Redevelopment Project site, and inspected the sedimentation basin and slope facilities near Baebongsan Forest Library, conducting a thorough check to prepare for the typhoon.
The district completed the removal of 86 outdoor advertisements, secured shade tents, and patrolled hazardous facilities such as tower cranes and steep slopes on the 2nd in preparation for strong winds. Additionally, water-blocking panels and backflow prevention devices were installed at flood-vulnerable households, and residents were pre-informed about how to respond in case of damage, aiming to minimize harm.
Furthermore, to prevent accidents caused by the typhoon, patrols will be conducted in cooperation with Dongdaemun Police Station around 193 flood and wind disaster vulnerable areas within the district, including large construction sites, landslide risk zones, and underpasses. The patrols will continue until the typhoon completely moves out of the Korean Peninsula’s influence.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, said, “I feel heavy-hearted hearing the news that a super typhoon will hit the Korean Peninsula just before the joyful Chuseok holiday,” and added, “We will take all possible measures at the district level, focusing on vulnerable areas, to prevent any accidents caused by the typhoon.”
