‘Metal Bellows Seal’, Core Component of Petrochemical Equipment

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City and ‘Korea Seal Line’ signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding for Investment’ at 2:30 PM on September 2nd in the situation room on the 7th floor of the main building of City Hall.

Korea Seal Line will establish a ‘Metal Bellows Seal Production Factory’ within the GW General Industrial Complex in Naegwang-ri, Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun.

The new factory will be a two-story building with a site area of 7,122㎡ and a total building area of 4,037㎡. Construction will begin in February next year and is scheduled to be completed in October. The total project cost is 7.8 billion KRW.

Korea Seal Line plans to actively cooperate in creating local jobs by prioritizing the employment of Ulsan citizens at the ‘Metal Bellows Production Factory.’

The city will provide administrative and financial support to ensure smooth progress of the investment.

Korea Seal Line is a local company that was founded in Seoul in 1989 and relocated its headquarters and factory to Ungchon-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan in 1999, establishing deep roots in Ulsan for nearly 20 years.

The main product, the ‘Metal Bellows Seal,’ is a key component installed on the shafts of ultra-high-speed rotating parts such as pump shafts, controlling the amount of high-temperature and high-pressure fluids or gases and preventing leakage.

Its application range is gradually expanding across all industrial fields, from semiconductors to petrochemicals and nuclear power.

Earlier, in 2000, Korea Seal Line was the first in Korea to commercialize the metal bellows seal with high durability against high temperature, high pressure, vibration, and deformation by utilizing micro plasma welding technology.

CEO Jiyong Kyu said, “Demand for metal bellows and mechanical seals has recently increased, and to respond to this, we decided to establish a new production factory. Through this investment, we aim to solidify our leading position in the market and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating jobs, prioritizing the employment of Ulsan citizens.”

Ulsan Mayor Doogeom Kim said, “Korea Seal Line supplies core components directly linked to Ulsan’s key industries and is a solid business recognized as a technology innovation company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. We will not spare interest and support so that Korea Seal Line can grow into a global company together with Ulsan.”
