[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, has completed payments to 83,530 people out of 90,165 eligible recipients for the Muan-type disaster relief fund, which began distribution on the 17th of last month, achieving a payment rate of 92.64% as of August 31.
The county prepared a budget of 18.2 billion KRW from its own funds to contribute to the rapid recovery of residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the stagnant local economy. Since August 17, it has been providing disaster relief funds of 200,000 KRW per person to residents, marriage immigrants, and permanent residents.
Additionally, to facilitate residents' applications, during the concentrated payment period from August 17 to 19, the county operated a one-officer-per-village system, where officers directly visited their assigned villages to handle applications and payments, enabling the rapid distribution of the disaster relief funds.
County Governor Kim San said, "I hope the disaster relief funds will help residents and small business owners struggling with rising grocery prices ahead of Chuseok," and added, "Residents who have not yet received the disaster relief funds are encouraged to apply promptly."
Meanwhile, the eligibility for the Muan-type disaster relief fund includes residents, marriage immigrants, and permanent residents who have had an address in Muan-gun from June 30 to the application date. The application period is until the 16th of this month.
The disaster relief funds can be applied for collectively by the head of the household, and those wishing to receive the funds can visit the eup/myeon office of their registered resident address.
However, for the Namak and Oryong new towns, applications are accepted at the New Town Support Center within the Namak Complex Community Center for residents' convenience.
