Korean and Parents' Native Language Together! ... Busan Office of Education Hosts Bilingual Speaking Contest Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "10th Busan Bilingual Speaking Contest" on the 3rd at the Busan Multicultural Education Support Center on the 4th floor of Nori Maru in Busanjin-gu.


The event will feature 34 multicultural students from elementary, middle, and high schools.


The Busan Bilingual Speaking Contest aims to help multicultural students develop the ability to speak both Korean and their parents' native languages, enhancing communication skills with their parents and fostering global competencies.


The contest includes 34 participants: 22 elementary students and 12 middle and high school students who speak nine languages including Russian, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Urdu, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Tajik, and French.


The contest is divided into elementary and middle school divisions. Participants first present on a free topic or their career plans in Korean, then present the same content in their parents' native language.


Winners will receive the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Award, and all participants will be given prizes.


The gold prize winner and three outstanding presenters in minority languages will represent Busan at the "10th National Bilingual Speaking Contest" held on November 5.


Park Ji-hoon, Director of Educational Innovation at the Busan Office of Education, said, "The contest will be a great opportunity for multicultural students to discover their bilingual talents early, understand their parents' cultures, and grow into global citizens with diverse communication skills."
