Jeongeup-si Hosts 'Firefighting Skills Competition' at National Sports Center

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 1st that it held the 21st Jeongeup Volunteer Fire Brigade Firefighting Skills Competition at the National Sports Center, attended by about 800 people including volunteer firefighters and their families, as well as firefighting officials.

The firefighting skills competition is an annual event promoted by the Jeongeup Fire Station and the Jeongeup Volunteer Fire Brigade Association (President Shin Moonseon).

It is promoted to prioritize citizens' safety from various fires and disasters, minimize human and property damage, share firefighting skills among members, improve their abilities, and foster unity.

At the competition held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, a commendation ceremony was held for 27 volunteer firefighters who have worked hard in firefighting activities.

Following this, the competition continued with events showcasing firefighting skills honed through practice, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, personal equipment wearing relay, and tug-of-war, and there was also a talent show time for mutual friendship and harmony among members, creating a joyful and meaningful time.

Mayor Lee Haksoo said, “Through this competition, I hope the volunteer firefighters will improve their initial disaster response and disaster situation coping abilities and become top volunteer firefighters who prioritize citizens' safety.”
