Michael Lee and Im Taekyung cast as Jesus, Han Jisang, Yoon Hyungryul, Baek Hyunghun, and Seo Eunkwang as Judas

On the 1st, the production company Blue Stage announced the casting list for the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' which will be performed at the Kwanglim Art Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from November 10 to January 15 of next year.
Michael Lee will once again take on the lead role of 'Jesus,' following his performances in 2013 and 2015. 'Jesus' is a character who struggles between being the Son of God and living as a human, ultimately facing a prophesied death.
Michael Lee has also received acclaim for his performances in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in locations such as Broadway in the United States, St. Louis, Washington, and Tokyo, Japan, portraying roles including 'Judas,' 'Jesus,' and 'Simon.'
Lim Taekyung, cast alongside Michael Lee as 'Jesus,' will appear before audiences with this production for the first time in 15 years since his 2006 performance.
Actors Han Jisang, Yoon Hyungryul, Baek Hyunghun, and Seo Eunkwang will play the role of 'Judas,' who desires Jewish independence but ultimately chooses the path of betrayal alongside Jesus.
Actors Kim Bokyung, Jang Euna, and J-Min have been cast as 'Maria,' who faces a life changed by meeting Jesus and is his only source of comfort.
First premiered on Broadway in the United States in 1971, 'Jesus Christ Superstar' is a work created in their twenties by musical maestro composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, known for musicals such as 'Cats' and 'The Phantom of the Opera,' and lyricist Tim Rice, who participated in musicals like 'The Lion King' and 'Aida.'
This work covers the last seven days of Jesus Christ's life, drawing significant attention at its premiere with its bold interpretation of biblical figures and powerful rock music. Since then, it has been steadily performed worldwide, establishing itself as a steady-selling musical.
