[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 1st that it will operate a direct transaction market for agricultural and specialty products from Seoul and other metropolitan areas until the 12th.
In anticipation of Chuseok, the nation's biggest traditional holiday, the city participated for the first time in three years in direct transaction markets that had been suspended due to COVID-19, aiming to promote and sell Namwon City's excellent agricultural and specialty products. Namwon participated in the Seoul Big Market hosted by Seoul City and the direct transaction market at Seocho-gu Office, a sister city.
Additionally, it took part in the Hangawi Holiday Gift Fair for consultations on supplying Chuseok gift sets.
During the Chuseok holiday period, a direct transaction market will be held at the Jirisan Rest Area on the Daegu-Gwangju Expressway in cooperation with Korea Expressway Corporation, where various Chuseok gifts will be sold to visitors returning to their hometowns.
To revitalize online Chuseok sales, a special section for Namwon City's agricultural and specialty products has been set up in the Jeonbuk Saengsaeng Market and the post office-operated shopping mall, supporting promotional activities for Namwon-based vendors and focusing on boosting sales of Chuseok gifts.
This Chuseok direct transaction market will promote the excellence of Namwon's unique agricultural and specialty products, including the Namwon agricultural product co-brand Chunhyangaein agricultural products such as pears, apples, and grapes used for Chuseok ancestral rites, agricultural food products like seaweed flakes, loach soup, honey, and specialties such as woodenware.
The city plans to strengthen administrative support to expand sales, fostering a warm Chuseok holiday atmosphere and revitalizing the local economy, concentrating administrative efforts to increase farmers' income.
