[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus announced on the 1st that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cyberlogitec, a subsidiary of Yoosoo Holdings and a specialized IT company in ports, shipping, and logistics, to expand its 5G-based smart port solution construction business.
LG Uplus decided to enter into the MOU with Cyberlogitec, which possesses expertise and know-how in port IT, to strengthen its smart port solution technology and expand its 5G-based business areas.
Cyberlogitec provides innovative solutions to improve customer productivity and profitability by introducing advanced technologies that are becoming increasingly important in the shipping company, terminal, and logistics industries. Cyberlogitec’s solutions, based on digital twin, artificial intelligence, IoT, and big data, have been recognized for their excellent technology and are currently used by 57 global customer shipping companies and port terminals.
Through this MOU, both companies plan to lead domestic and international smart port construction projects by combining their respective technologies and experiences. By integrating LG Uplus’s 5G private network with Cyberlogitec’s digital twin technology, port operation data can be visualized and obtained easily without time delay. This allows port operators to intuitively check the status of port operations and worker safety, and also receive AI services that predict risk factors using big data.
Additionally, since Cyberlogitec possesses specialized technology for port IT systems, it will add expertise to LG Uplus’s smart port solutions. LG Uplus will leverage Cyberlogitec’s experience in operating various types of port terminals overseas, such as Dubai’s Jebel Ali Terminal and T?rkiye’s Ashaport Terminal, as well as domestically, to develop segmented, customized smart port solutions for customers.
Both companies also agreed to jointly promote further expansion of domestic smart port construction projects in the future and to collaborate on building integrated control systems applicable to industrial sites beyond ports, such as smart factories.
Since last year, LG Uplus has acquired projects and businesses for building smart port solutions targeting container terminals located in Busan, Yeosu, and Gwangyang. The current cooperation at a terminal within Busan New Port aiming to establish a port safety control system by the end of this year served as the impetus for this MOU.
Son Jeong-min, Head of Port Solutions Group (Executive Director) at Cyberlogitec, said, "Through cooperation with LG Uplus, we expect to showcase our technology to more potential customers as well as build 5G private networks." He added, "We will strive for a win-win in the smart port construction business through the synergy created by combining the technologies each company possesses."
Seo Jae-yong, Head of Smart Factory Business at LG Uplus (Executive Director), stated, "We decided to collaborate with Cyberlogitec to further advance and differentiate LG Uplus’s smart port solutions." He added, "We will develop solutions tailored to the characteristics of each domestic port to solidify our position as a leading smart port operator."
