Enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Featuring Maximized Space Utilization
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia announced on the 31st that it held a photo media day for the enhanced model of The New Ray, 'The New Kia Ray,' at 'Kia 360' and will begin full-scale sales starting tomorrow.
The Ray is characterized by its extensive adoption of advanced driver assistance systems and convenience features highly preferred by customers, such as Lane Following Assist (LFA) and ventilated driver’s seat. It also maximizes space utilization with full folding functionality for all seats, including the driver’s seat.
First, the design of the Ray inherits its original and iconic appearance while adding new design elements to create a sophisticated atmosphere. The front features a design that reinterprets the ‘Tiger Face’ for the Ray with ‘Starmap Signature Lighting’ and a clean center garnish, complemented by a new bumper that gives a solid impression.
The interior applies a new cluster design and adds a ‘Light Gray Interior’ with a modern image. Additionally, the front seats have full folding functionality, and the rear seats offer sliding 6:4 folding, enabling a ‘full flat’ configuration by folding all seats to provide customers with various spacious interior layouts.
Kia has further enhanced the Ray’s appeal by newly applying various advanced driver assistance systems and convenience features. These include ▲Lane Following Assist that helps maintain the center of the lane, ▲Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) which warns of collision risks with rear-side vehicles when the turn signal is operated during lane changes or helps brake when a collision risk is detected during forward exit from parallel parking, ▲High Beam Assist (HBA), and ▲Cruise Control (CC) to support safe and comfortable driving.
Also applied are ‘Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA),’ which warns of collision risks on the left/right sides during reversing and automatically brakes if the risk increases after warning, and ‘Safe Exit Warning (SEW),’ which warns when a vehicle approaching from the rear side is detected while a passenger opens the door after stopping.
Furthermore, convenience features highly preferred by customers have been significantly added. These include ▲ventilated driver’s seat and ▲air purification mode for comfortable travel, ▲door lock-linked outside mirror folding that automatically folds or unfolds the side mirrors in sync with the vehicle’s door lock status, ▲remote start smart key, ▲individual tire pressure monitoring system, and ▲rear seat C-type USB charging ports to enhance convenience.
Additionally, advanced connectivity features such as ‘Kia Connect,’ which allows remote control of the vehicle’s ignition and climate control via a smartphone application, the in-vehicle simple payment system ‘Kia Pay,’ and ‘Home IoT functions’ are also equipped.
The sales prices are as follows: for passenger cars ▲Standard 13.9 million KRW ▲Prestige 15.85 million KRW ▲Signature 17.2 million KRW; for 2-seater vans ▲Prestige 13.5 million KRW ▲Prestige Special 13.9 million KRW; and for 1-seater vans ▲Prestige 13.4 million KRW ▲Prestige Special 13.75 million KRW.
Meanwhile, Kia has prepared various marketing events to coincide with the Ray’s launch. Under the theme ‘A New Radius of My Life,’ three TV commercials introducing the Ray’s design and key features in spaces that expand daily life, hobbies, and relaxation will be released on the launch day. Additionally, from the 7th to the 11th of next month, just before the Chuseok holiday, a special Ray exhibition space will be operated at Starfield Hanam (located in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do), providing brand experiences to visitors through various events.
