Special Crackdown on Environmental Pollutant Emission Sites from September 5 to 12
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Jeollanam-do Mokpo City announced on the 30th that it will launch special monitoring and crackdown activities on facilities discharging environmental pollutants to prevent environmental pollution accidents in advance.
From the 5th to the 12th of next month, the city will focus on inspecting the normal operation of discharge and prevention facilities and violations of environmental laws and regulations, centering on major rivers, agro-industrial complexes, and facilities that discharge large amounts of wastewater.
Before the Chuseok holiday, the city will encourage preemptive measures and voluntary inspections to prevent environmental pollution accidents at pollutant discharge facilities and strengthen patrols of major rivers.
During the Chuseok holiday, to respond quickly in case of environmental pollution accidents, the city will operate a situation room and conduct emergency duty, while maintaining an emergency contact system with related organizations to prepare for environmental pollution accidents.
A city official said, “We will do our best to block environmental pollution violations that exploit the weak supervision during the Chuseok holiday in advance so that citizens can spend the holiday in a pleasant environment,” and added, “We ask each facility to actively carry out self-inspections and facility improvements and comply with related laws and regulations, showing continuous interest and caution.”
