Gochang-gun Hosts New Menu Development Contest Utilizing Agricultural Specialties

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 30th that it will hold a new menu contest for beverages and desserts using local agricultural specialties.

The contest involves creating beverages or desserts using Gochang's main agricultural specialties such as watermelon, melon, peanuts, sweet potatoes, barley, vinegar, ginseng, and bokbunja as the main ingredients.

This contest was prepared to develop beverages and desserts that can easily reach consumers and be consumed, aiming to popularize Gochang's representative agricultural specialties.

Anyone can participate, including culinary experts, youth, students, and housewives, as long as the beverage or dessert is original and not already popularized.

To participate, applicants must submit the application form, cooking description, and a cooking video within 3 minutes via email by the 18th of next month, available on the county website and Baerien Bio Food Research Institute.

In the first round of judging, 10 teams each for beverages and desserts will be selected, and 6 teams will be chosen for the finals after demonstrations. The prize money includes 3 million KRW for the grand prize and 1.5 million KRW for the gold prize.

County Governor Shim Deokseop said, "As this contest is prepared to popularize Gochang's representative agricultural specialties, I hope many people can easily participate," adding, "We will foster hot places throughout the region where people can eat and experience special beverages and desserts."
