[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] SK E&S announced on the 30th that it will participate in 'H2 MEET 2022,' the largest hydrogen industry international exhibition in Korea, held from the 31st of this month to the 3rd of next month at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Ilsan.
SK E&S will participate in this exhibition under the slogan "Hydrogen Future Powered by SK E&S," leading the hydrogen era centered in Korea. Along with introducing SK E&S's differentiated eco-friendly hydrogen value chain covering hydrogen production, distribution, and consumption, they have prepared an experience for visitors to directly engage with the hydrogen ecosystem and see and feel how hydrogen can be utilized in our daily lives.
The SK E&S exhibition hall is divided into an internal dome-shaped space shaped like an Energy Cell and an external space where visitors can directly experience the hydrogen world.
First, inside the space, visitors can visually experience the hydrogen ecosystem SK E&S aims to promote through the interaction of a 6-meter model of a future eco-friendly hydrogen society located in the center of the exhibition hall and a 5-meter-high large media wall.
Additionally, SK E&S exhibits a model of the water electrolysis facility of SK Plug Hybus, a joint venture (JV) established in January this year with the U.S. hydrogen company Plug Power. The water electrolysis facility, which extracts hydrogen by electrolyzing water using electricity generated from renewable energy, is attracting attention as a key means to build a clean green hydrogen ecosystem in Korea.
The external space is mainly composed of real exhibits so that visitors can experience the hydrogen ecosystem more vividly on-site.
One of the highlights of this exhibition, the 'H₂ Warehouse,' faithfully reproduces the appearance of an eco-friendly hydrogen logistics center. It exhibits hydrogen forklifts, first unveiled after research and development following a business agreement with Doosan Bobcat in April, as well as vehicle hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen chargers from partner company Plug Power. The eco-friendly hydrogen logistics center, which emits no pollutants, is already commercialized in places like California, USA, and is expected to spread to the domestic logistics industry as well.
Furthermore, SK E&S plans to hold a mini talk show on the 1st of next month under the theme "Fuel Cells Opening the Hydrogen Economy and Future." The mini talk show will highlight why the quantitative growth of hydrogen fuel cells is key to expanding the hydrogen economy and explore support measures to expand the use of hydrogen fuel cells.
In addition, SK E&S stated that it has made efforts to embody the meaning of carbon neutrality throughout the H2 MEET 2022 exhibition by recycling eco-friendly recycled plastics used in the WGC2022 exhibition last May and wearing upcycled uniforms.
Choo Hyung-wook, CEO of SK E&S, said, "SK E&S's strategy is to secure a differentiated hydrogen value chain based on the LNG value chain competitiveness we possess and partnerships with global leading companies," adding, "As the importance of energy security grows day by day, we will strive to make Korea the global center of hydrogen."
